Elephant statue in the middle of a big round-a-bout, somewhere in Guinea.
We had been driving for while by then, so I have no idea where we were. |

Jeanna and I on the way to Cheryl's house. Our taxi was very comfortable. |

This building has no significance. |

Smoke rising from a trash yard. |

This is Guinea's "new stadium," and it's been "new" for three years now.
The Chinese made a deal with the Guinean government to build it and they held up their
end of the deal, but the Guinean government hasn't finished it. So basically, there's a huge,
brand new stadium in the middle of trashy, unkept land.

(from left: Me, Cheryl, Katie, Jeanna) Jeanna and I were so blessed
to be able to spend the evening with the Solvig family.
It was so nice to be in an actual home and talk about familiar things. |
On Tuesday night Jeanna and I took a taxi and went across Conakry to eat dinner with Cheryl Solvig and her family. We don't know much French, even though we're taking lessons, but thankfully Cheryl had told him where to take us. :) Katie is 14 and she's in eighth grade. She has two more daughters but they are at boarding school in Sierra Leone. Cheryl and her husband have been in Conakry for 2 1/2 years, and were in Gabon for 14 years before that. But she reminded me so much of home, and made us sweet tea.
