On Thursday my boss gave all of Hospitality the day off. Jenny, Emily and I decided we would go to the largest/craziest market in Conakry to buy some fabric. As we were walking out of the port, realizing we had no phone, very ill French speaking skills, no guide to tell us where to go, we just started laughing and continued to walk. As planned, we got onto one of the public buses, paid our 1000Guinea francs (less than 15 cents) and experienced a ride around town with the locals while Rihanna played on the radio. (Everyone loves Rihanna here). After a 30 minute drive we arrived at our destination and were immediately overwhelmed by the amount of people and by the reality that we had no idea where to go. But after an hour of getting lost, getting directions (but not understanding them), almost being pick-pocketed, nearly getting run over by a cart, and being constantly called "photee" (I have no idea how to spell that word, but it means "white person"), we found the fabric jack pot. :) I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. It was overwhelming to say the least.
