Saturday

A group of us went "wondering" into the city today! We went to the fish market (pictures below) and all over Conakry it felt like... Thankfully we stopped at a the Riviera hotel and swam in the pool. It was a very interesting day going from the Ship to the city and then from the city to the hotel. I think I'll be experiencing culture shock for a long time, if not for the entire time I'm here. Walking down the streets of Conakry is a little overwhelming. Sorry I don't have any pictures...we're not really supposed to take pictures. Guineans will get angry if we don't ask, and taking pictures of police or anything concerning government is off limits.

Last night was great fun. We went to a Lebanese restaurant and then to a little hole-in-the-wall pub thing--known as The Flag. I had a nice bag of water.

When we got back a few girls and I went to visit some of the VVF patients. Please look it up if you do not know what VVF is. Its incredibly sad, but these women are so thankful. It shames me. We played a matching game! Great fun. They were competitive. :)

Tonight is my first night working in my black and white uniform. I'm a little nervous, but thankfully I'm  just doing some shadowing of my coworkers. There are about 50 people arriving tonight as workers. Hospitality is in charge of welcoming, giving tours, feeding them meals, answering questions... I'm stil trying to figure out where the nearest water closet is! Okay, enough for today. Sorry if this was too long.
